Overview

This exclusive 4-day, 3-night safari offers a perfect blend of the Okavango Delta’s diverse habitats, starting with the dry-land game viewing of the Khwai region and transitioning to the magnificent waterways of a private Delta concession.

Day 1: Arrival at Mmatsebe (Khwai)

• Arrival & Transfer: Your journey begins in Maun with a scenic light aircraft flight over the Delta’s eastern edge to the Khwai area airstrip. You will be met by your Mmatsebe camp guide and transferred to your lodge, offering a preliminary game drive en route.
• Afternoon Activity: Settle in and head out for your first extended afternoon game drive into the Khwai concession. This area, located near the Moremi Game Reserve, is renowned for its high density of predators, especially Wild Dogs, lions, and leopard sightings near the Khwai River.
• Evening: Sundowners overlooking the river, followed by dinner and stargazing.

Day 2: Full Exploration of the Khwai Wilderness

• Morning Game Drive: Wake up early for the best predator action. Explore the mopane forests and riverine habitats where large herds of elephant and buffalo often graze.
• Optional Walking Safari: Depending on Mmatsebe’s concession rules, you may opt for a guided bush walk in the mid-morning to appreciate the smaller details of the ecosystem, such as tracks, birds, and plants.
• Afternoon Activity: Enjoy a late afternoon activity that could include another game drive or, if water levels permit, a gentle mokoro excursion along the river channels to observe birdlife and aquatic creatures.

Day 3: Delta Transfer and Kiri Water Focus

• Morning Activity: After a final early breakfast and morning activity at Mmatsebe, you will be transferred back to the airstrip.
• Scenic Air Transfer: A light aircraft flight takes you across the Delta to the Kiri Camp concession. This flight is a spectacular opportunity to appreciate the sheer scale and beauty of the Okavango from above.
• Kiri Arrival & Afternoon Activity: Settle into the exclusive Kiri Camp. Kiri is known for its excellent blend of land and water, but the first afternoon is often dedicated to a motorized boating safari or a mokoro trip into the deep, pristine channels to find hippos and water-dependent wildlife.

Day 4: Final Delta Activities and Departure

• Morning Activity: Enjoy one final, incredible safari activity. This could be an early morning game drive focused on the unique wildlife within Kiri’s private area, or a silent mokoro trip as the sun rises, providing unparalleled tranquility and photography opportunities.
• Departure: After a leisurely brunch, you will be transferred back to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight back to Maun International Airport (MUB), carrying unforgettable memories of the Khwai and Kiri camps
